Toutle River/Cowlitz River

If you enjoy fishing your in luck. Toutle River RV Resort has river frontage near the mouth of the Toutle River where it enters the Cowlitz River. Anglers from all over the country come to this world class year round fishing spot and congregate along the riverbanks during spring and winter salmon and steelhead seasons.

If you want to venture out on your own, stop by the office and we will give you directions to the nearest boat launch. There are several boat ramps within 3-10 miles from the resort. The Cowlitz is the number one steelhead producer in the state of Washington for winter (Nov-Jan) and summer (June-October) run steelhead. There are two species of the Pacific salmon, Chinook salmon, and Coho salmon. Be sure to bring your motorboat, fishing gear, kayaks, canoes, and floats for a fun filled water adventure.

Castle Rock

Castle Rock is located on the Cowlitz River and is the western entrance point to Mt. St. Helens, along the Spirit Lake Memorial Highway at exit 49. Near the exit are convenience stores with gas stations, motels, atms, and drive thru fast foods, The local grocery store, hardware store, lumberyard, bakery, antique shops, banks, and post office, are located on the west side of I-5. There are numerous restaurants scattered in and around town. Drive down Huntington Ave. to view the rock, where the town got its name. The distance from Toutle River RV Resort to Castle Rock is just three miles.

Silver Lake

Silver Lake is just 7 miles from Toutle River RV Resort. This 3,000- acre lake east of Castle Rock is known for its largemouth bass and has trout, crappie, perch, bluegill, sunfish, and brown bullhead. There is always a surprise at the end of your pole at this lake. What a great lake to take the kids fishing!


Kelso is 12 miles from Toutle River RV Resort. There are several exits. Take exit #39 to visit The Cowlitz County Tourism and Visitors Center or Three Rivers Mall if you forgot to pack your shorts and swimsuit. Safeway, banks, motor inns, fast foods, pharmacies, and restaurants all in one convenient stop.

Longview Area

Lake Sacajawea is in Longview's city limits. Largemouth bass, yellow perch, and bluegill, inhabit the lake. They stock the lake, in early spring with rainbow and brown trout, plus brood stock rainbows. No gasoline motors allowed on the lake. Take a stroll around the lake, bring a picnic lunch, and enjoy the afternoon. Be sure to check out the Downtown Historic and Antique District then dine out at one of the fine restaurants in town.

Kalama River/Town of Kalama/Columbia River

The Kalama River is located 20 miles from Toutle River RV Resort at exit 32 in Cowlitz County. It is one of Southwest Washington States best Spring Chinook and Summer Run Steelhead Rivers of the Columbia River tributaries. Spring Chinook, average 12 to 15 pounds, run is usually April, May and June. The summer run steelhead is in May, June, and July. Modrow boat launch is 1.5 miles from exit 32.

If you enjoy antiques, stop in at the town of Kalama and visit the Antique Mall, located right next to I-5 also at exit 32. Then go under the overpass and see the Totem Poles carved by the local natives, the Kalama Marina is also located in this vicinity and there is access to the Columbia River.


If you love to shop until you drop, driving a few extra miles (30 miles to be exact) to Centralia's Factory Outlets will satisfy your need to indulge in some great factory direct savings? Just head north from the resort on I-5 to exit 82 in Centralia. Spend the afternoon shopping brand name outlet stores.


The Little Crane Café is a great place to eat, you will feel right at home, and you will not go away hungry. Toutle River RV Resort is 12 miles from the café. Stop by the office and see what their menu has to offer.


Winlock is north of Toutle River RV Resort at exit # 63. Driving Distance is 13.8 miles and takes about 17 minutes to get there. They are famous for the World's Largest Egg. It is twelve feet long and weighs 1,200 lbs. Winlock Egg Day Festival is the last weekend of June. This annual event is family oriented, fun activities include a carnival and street fair, parade, vendors, live music at the park and much more.
